OCENOX Glossary: 8 IT Transformation Terms
Concisely explained – the terms that make the difference in IT transformation projects. From cloud transformation to vendor lock-in, from vendor independence to TCO comparison.
TCO Comparison
Total Cost of Ownership over 5 years. Licences, operations, migration costs plus indirect costs (training, customization, shadow IT).
Vendor Shortlist
Selection of 2–4 final platform vendors through a structured filter process: requirements, fit to the company, market position, defensible references.
Vendor Independence
Consulting without vendor partnerships, commissions, or kickbacks. Recommendations based purely on fit to the company – no SAP bias, no Microsoft loyalty conflict.
Vendor Lock-in
Structural dependence on one vendor through proprietary formats, high migration costs, or missing exit strategy. Avoidable through architectural caution.
Cloud Transformation
Moving on-premise infrastructure and applications into Public/Private/Hybrid Cloud. More than Lift-and-Shift: affects architecture, operations, governance, FinOps.
OKR Rollout
Objectives and Key Results: goal-management framework. 4–12 weeks rollout in a pilot domain, then scaled company-wide.
SAFe Implementation
Scaled Agile Framework: scaling agile work at programme and portfolio level. Agile Release Trains, PI Planning, Lean Portfolio Management.
Bogus Self-employment
German legal risk for IT externals (Scheinselbständigkeit). With NZ company seat (OCENOX LTD) and territorial principle (§3 SGB IV), no concern – own entrepreneurial risk, multiple clients.
